There had been a fire at the property prior to this, so there was emphasis on fitting smoke alarms. Normally i tend to fit wylex however these MK’s are on special offer and they are every bit as good if not better than a wylex!

 

This was a find during a recent electrical installation condition report –  formerly known as a periodic inspection report. The live supply cable has signs of overheating – most likely down to a loose connection.

Same job – looks like the work of a ‘handyman’ certainly not an electrician. Handymen may be able to turn their hand to most things. If you are having any kind of electrical work done – even changing a light fitting  such as this, make sure that it’s done by a registered electrician.

As it happens the reason I was asked to test this house was because there had been a fire, and although there was damage to some of the cables from the fire, I found a multitude of serious faults in other places which were all down to poor workmanship, along with complete ignorance and lack of knowledge to electrical safety.
