A good customer of mine got me to project manage her renovaton project in York. I was still waiting for my house in Hebden Bridge to go through so why not? 2 bedroom mid terraced with back yard, on street parking 1/2 a mile from the city walls.

So far it’s taken 6 weeks for the renovation with the kitchen / bathroom to go in next week and finishing off of the electrics. All in all it will probably be completed around 1 week from now making it a total of 7 weeks from start to finish – strip out, re- wire, new central heating, damp proofed, plastered, new kitchen and bathroom. Nice little house!

The boring part – split electrical supply tails to new consumer unit so all kitchen circuits are new and fully compliant to the latest regs (BS7671 2018)

Appleby Electrical is now fully qualified to the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations.
Some of the big changes are –
lighting circuits in domestic dwellings must have additional protection by RCD or deemed as potentially dangerous.

Surge protective devices are being introduced at the origin of the installation – either by way of it’s own enclosure or within a new consumer unit / distribution board. This is down to all the expensive vulnerable electrical equipment that can be damaged from power surges – including in domestic dwellings (boiler’s, computers, Tv’s, game consoles sky boxes etc).

There’s also the introduction of Arc fault detection devices to cosumer units to prevent dangerous electric arcs.

Florida trip flip no flop!
Whilst we were out visiting the in – laws in Florida we were drafted in to help refurbish this ex- rental to get it ready to sell. It’s been rented out for a few years while waiting for the market to pick up after the recession.
There were the usual things like a deep clean throughout, decorating, and fix a leak that had ruined the downstairs floors and walls. A bit of re plastering, some nice new laminate flooring, bish bash bosh job’s a gud un!
